We had no contested positions, and so did not do formal elections. The first KEELE SCHOOL COUNCIL MEETING of the year:  Tuesday, September 29  6:30-8:00 PM   in the library & on Zoom*  ALL ARE WELCOME!!!  What will happen at the meeting?  At every meeting, we will all introduce ourselves and get to know each other. We will hear from the Principal and a primary, junior, and intermediate teacher about what’s happening in their classrooms and at the school. We will also discuss events, activities, and anticipated needs in the months ahead.  At the first meeting of the year (next Tuesday!!) we will also set the budget for the year and elect the 2026-2027 council. All roles are available, from Chair to voting members-at-large.  We will have a babysitter to engage kids in another room so you can focus on the meeting. It's back to school time, which means the Keele Street Fun Fair is coming up! Mark your calendars for our funnest afternoon, and biggest fundraiser of the year! Here's everything you need to know... Friday, September 18 4-6 PM Keele schoolyard  Wristbands & tickets Wristbands are $15 and cover bouncy castles and many activities (craft zone, face painting, fire truck visits, scavenger hunt, etc.).   Last Thursday, the gym was filled with popcorn, laughs..and goats! Thanks to all who came out to our movie night. Concession stand sales ensured we met our field trip & athletics support goals for the year.   As we head towards the end of the 2025-2026 school year, Parent Council would like to give a huge thank you to all the Keele families who helped make this year a great one! Whether you volunteered at an event, helped fill the fruit bowl, delivered pizza to the hungry hoards, or took the time to email or make it out to a council meeting, we appreciate your engagement, and we cannot do it without you! We're already looking towards the 2026-2027 school year, and Fun Fair planning is underway! We're mixing it up this year and trying out a Friday afternoon event, so please mark your calendar for Friday, September 18 from 4-6 PM . Our incredible GSA club is holding a bake sale and button sale fundraiser on Friday May 29th and we need your help.  Please send the suggested donation of $2 with your child to school on Friday May 29th.  Please help out by baking! Drop off nut-free baked goods to the school on the morning of Friday May 29th. Babysitting and snacks are provided for the in-person meetings.  At our meetings we always hear updates from the principal, VP and staff, and discuss matters related to the school (e.g., events, fundraising, spending funds, safety, school improvement efforts, etc.) Meetings are a fun way to get involved and meet new people! Pizza days are continuing for spring 2026! Children will receive 2 slices of pepperoni or cheese pizza (from Pizza Pizza) delivered to their classroom during lunch hour. All TDSB volunteers are required to complete a  Police  Reference  Check . You need a Police Reference Check to: Go on a field trip Volunteer in the classroom Help out with Parent Council events (pizza days, bake sales, etc.) If You Have Previously Submitted a Police Reference Check to a TDSB School If you have completed a Police Reference Check in previous years and submitted it to the school office (either as a hard copy or by email), you do NOT need to complete a new Police Reference Check. Instead, you must complete the:  " 2025-2026 Annual Offense Declaration Form " (we don't have an updated form yet, you can just update the date). This form confirms that you have not had any convictions since your last Police Reference Check. We are so excited for the Winter Showcase that is happening on Wed Dec 10th from 5:30-6:30pm. Come cheer on our students—and skip making dinner! We’ll be serving up  pizza, popcorn, snacks, and sweet treats  in the  Library from 4:30–7:00 PM .  Cash, credit and debit will be accepted. Pizza - $3/slice or 2 for $5 Popcorn - $2/bag Drinks - $1 to $3 Baked Goods - $1 to $3 We need baked goods! Please drop off baked goods to the library starting at 3:30pm. If you need to drop items earlier, you can bring them to the office. You can also just bring your items when you come that evening for the concert.  If you are able to volunteer you will get seats saved in the first row! We're so excited to bring our Holiday Pop-up Shop back to Keele this year.  Starting now you can donate your new or gently used items that aren't getting the attention they deserve to the  Keele Holiday Pop-up Shop . Students will get the chance to buy the items for 25 cents to give to their friends and family over the holidays. It's a great way to reuse and recycle items you aren't using, and for the students to experience how it can feel better to give rather than receive.  We ask for the following new or gently used items to be donated (donation bin is set-up outside of the office until Wednesday December 10th):  Books,  jewelry , candles, scarves, note cards, tea towels, decorative items, picture frames, magnets, accessories, games, puzzles, stuffed animals, toys, ornaments, mugs, and more!  The pop-up shop will be held on  Tuesday December 16th  in the school library.   The Scholastic Book Fair is coming! Many of us have fond memories of shopping for books and bookish supplies in our school library, and the tradition continues from November 11th to 14th at Keele. Students will have an opportunity to visit the book fair in the library at lunch or after school, as well as during parent-teacher interviews Thursday evening and Friday morning.  Browse a sample junior catalogue here  to see what kinds of books will be on sale. Books start as low as $3, and every purchase at a Scholastic Book Fair contributes Scholastic Dollars to Keele library! We need parent volunteers to help run the fair from November 10-14!
