How to Get a Police Reference Check to Volunteer
All TDSB volunteers are required to complete a Police Reference Check. You need a Police Reference Check to:
- Go on a field trip
- Volunteer in the classroom
- Help out with Parent Council events (pizza days, bake sales, etc.)
If You Have Previously Submitted a Police Reference Check to a TDSB School
If you have completed a Police Reference Check in previous years and submitted it to the school office (either as a hard copy or by email), you do NOT need to complete a new Police Reference Check.
Instead, you must complete the: "2025-2026 Annual Offense Declaration Form"
This form confirms that you have not had any convictions since your last Police Reference Check.
Please submit the completed form by:

Dropping it off at the school office, OR

Emailing it to: PoliceReferenceCheckOffice@tdsb.on.ca
1. Click on "Register for an Adult Police Record Check Apply Here"
2. Register for a new account.
3. Once registered and logged in, scroll down to "Vulnerable Sector Check" select "$26.72 - Volunteer (you receive NO monetary compensation)".
4. Complete the form using the following information:
- *Position: Volunteer at the school
- *VSC Organization Code: 202309TPSOND7EFC
- *Vulnerable Clientele Duties: Going on field trips, volunteering at school events, and other school activities with children ages 3–14
- *List which vulnerable sectors you will be working with (list all that apply): Children
6. Click "Submit and Continue >>>"
7. Continue completing the form, make the $26.72 payment, and submit the form.
Important Information
- It takes about 8 weeks to receive the Police Reference Check back via email.
- Once you receive it, submit it to the school office or email it to krystine.suvoda@tdsb.on.ca.
- You only have 90 days to download your Police Reference Check after receiving the email. Be sure to download and save a copy for your records.
