Welcome Back to the 2023-2024 School Year!

Welcome to our new and returning Keele St PS families! We are excited for a great 2023-2024 school year.

This website was created and is maintained by the Parent School Advisory Council to communicate with families about important information and events at Keele St. P.S.

What is the School Advisory Council?

The Keele Street School Advisory Council (also called the PTA, Parent Council, Family Council, etc.) is a group made up of volunteer parents, guardians, the principal, VP,  Keele St PS staff, and others. Our purpose is to work alongside the staff at Keele to enhance our children’s educational experience and to strengthen their sense of community. We advise the principal on a variety of issues relating to school achievement, curriculum priorities, school budget priorities, school safety, wellness initiatives, and more. We also organize fundraising and community-building events to purchase technology, books and supplies to supplement and enhance the curriculum.

Keele Street PS Events and Fundraisers

Throughout the year, Keele school staff and the student council host events (e.g. concerts, popcorn days, freezie days, etc.). The School Advisory Council also holds events and supports staff/student led events. Some School Advisory Council events we have planned for this year are:

  • Fun Fair (Sat Sept 23 from 11am-3pm)

  • Fruit Bowl in Office (Sept to June)

  • Pizza Days (Oct to June)

  • Lunch Lady Hot Lunches (Oct to June)

  • Halloween Costume/Winter Gear Swap (Oct)

  • Keele Cougars Spirit Wear Sales (November)

  • Food Drive (Dec)

  • Holiday Pop-Up Shop (Dec)

  • Bake Sale/Pizza Sale at Winter Concert (Dec)

  • Book Sale (March)

  • Poetry Cafe (April)

  • Keele Cougars Spirit Wear Sales (April)

  • Bake Sale at Spring Concert (May or June)

  • Play Day (June)

Our 2023-2024 Fundraising Goal

Last year we were able to raise enough funds to cover the cost of a field trip for every class in the school, purchase new A/V equipment for the gym, purchase outdoor activity equipment, and supplement the curriculum in many other ways. Our goal for this year is to raise enough funds to purchase a large electric screen and ceiling mounted projector for the school’s gym so we can host inclusive and accessible school concerts, ceremonies, and events.
